In the beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

This is how our Creator started everything, he created the heavens and the earth. I was blessed to have a desire for creating new things. I’m not sure how old are you or if you can relate to what I’m telling you now, but 20 years ago when I pursued programming I felt that computers are something out of this planet. I was amazed at the fact I can create something out of basically nothing, in a similar way to how God created the heavens and the earth. I remember creating my first HTML page using a physical book written by one of my high school programming teachers. I would just smile when the text color changed through a simple #000000 code change, I remember rushing downstairs to my dad calling him to come and see what I just created.

After 10 years of working in tech companies and outsourcing much of my work, I’ve decided it’s time to reconnect with my roots and rediscover the joy of programming—the way it was meant to be: a tool for true innovation.
You might be wondering what BITSEQ stands for. It comes from bit sequence—a reminder that, unlike God, we can’t create something out of nothing. But we can create something meaningful from sequences of bits. And that’s exactly what I intend to do.

I am dedicating this journey to my God, my Heavenly Father that holds my earthly father in his arms now and I hope that the outcome of this journey will be glorifying Him only.

SafeBlock

Now, every journey starts somehow, so this journey starts with SafeBlock, an adult-content blocking app. I came up with this idea for few years already because I was not satisfied enough with the apps I could find available and also because I feel like this kind of protection should be a sort of human right (cost affordable, not exclusive), because today we are bombarded with content we do not desire such as: adult explicit memes, adult explicit links taking us straight to porn websites, adult explicit comments from other users or even adds/commercials for all kinds of things we don’t even use, such as women underwear.

The app will work as an add-on initially for iOS Safari browser which will block access to explicit content websites. You will be able to customise an additional list of websites you don’t want to visit (sometimes involuntarily or out of habit) and on top of that favorite list, the app will contain an exhaustive list of millions of adult explicit websites that will be available to check against when you will try to access them.

I believe in self awareness and self control, therefore I intend to build the app in such way that you will have full control of the app, you will not have to hand over your control to us, because you will be in charge of it. Because of that, the app will not collect details about you initially, except for email for the purpose of authentication.

PS: I hope that we can also build a community around this product so as soon as this gets launched we will have some dedicated social networks pages, but I’ll keep you posted about this right here on bitseq.dev
